Favorite Game Glitches/Secrets

This section will cover some of my favorite game glitches you may or may not know about. These are just for fun, and can mess your game up. So, if you are playing on the original system, don't try it if you are playing seriously. If you are playing on an emulator, than save your state first. Some of these are pretty entertaining, some are pretty stupid. Remember, most of them are just for fun.

Super Mario Bros.
The "Minus World"

First off is the "Minus World". This was not a planned world, but more than likely a glitch that was not supposed to happen. Once you enter the minus world, there is no escaping. You can swim to the pipe all day until you run out of lives and continues, with no escape.

Step 1: Make your way to the end of World 1-2. When you reach the pipe at the end of the level, don't enter it. Instead jump on top of it, and face the left.

Step 2: Now, bust out the 2 blocks that are missing in this picture. This is pretty much your key to the "Minus World". After you break the bricks, stand on the edge of the pipe.

Step 3: Now comes the tricky part. Jump backwards into the block, without breaking it. After many attempts, you will fall through the block. If you are lucky, you will fall through the block, and straight through the wall.

Step 4: When you make it through the wall, run through to the Warp Zone. But don't travel too far, or the numbers will appear. If "Welcome to Warp Zone" shows, than it's not going to work anymore.

Step 5: When you are successfully on the other side of the wall, hurry and hop down the first pipe you see. It doesn't really matter which pipe you enter, just as long as the numbers and Warp Zone message don't appear.

Step 6: Isn't really a step at all. You are here! Now that you are here, remember, there is no way out. You have put Mario in a world which he will be swimming for the rest of his Italian life. Theres not much to this world, its just World 2-2 over and over again, with no exit. It's not really a fantastic secret, but it's an area that's not even supposed to be here! Look at the world number, its World -1.

The Sticky Beanstalk

This glitch haunted me when I was a child. I was roughly around 7 when I found this one out. What this is, is an invisible beanstalk, that will grab you, and won't let go. I have purposely put myself into it over and over again, trying to escape it, than I realized something. You can't escape its evil clutches. So remember kids, when you enter the Sticky Beanstalk, it has you until the timer decides your death.

Step 1: Make your way to World 4-2, at the spot where the Warp Zone is to worlds 6-8. Open up the secret block that contains the beanstalk. God I hate this beanstalk, it's evil.

Step 2: Now walk slowly to the edge of the screen, to the point that the beanstalk will disappear. Now that the beanstalk is invisible. Go ahead, run up to it. Touch it.

Step 3: The beanstalk will now have you in its clutches, and won't let go for anything. I have tried running around, jumping, and tossing fire, with no escape. If you can find a way out of this, then forever be my hero.

Super Mario 64
The Water Patch

This is a glitch I discovered one day by accident. Make your way to Tall Tall Mountain. Where you start out, look to the left. You will see water next to a mountain. Look closely at the mountain, and notice there is a triangle cut into it. Get a running start and do a long jump into the triangle. This will take you to a lake on the other side, that was never intended for you to visit. You can die, so be careful not to fall!

A Little Shortcut

After you defeat the second Bowser, get the key, and are able to go upstairs of the castle, here is a small shortcut up the spiral staircase. It saves about .8 seconds, so it is pretty much just neat to know. Look at the picture, and do a jump or double jump into that section of the stairs. You will jump right through it.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Infinite Gold Skulltulas

I used to do this on the real N64. After you recieve the boomerang and the song of storms, take a visit to Hyrule Castle. Save your game before you do this. Outside you will see a tree in the corner. Play the song of storms to open up the earth.

Blast the left wall open with a bomb to reveal a Gold Skulltula. Kill the gold skulltula, then position yourself facing the skulltula with your back to the portal. Use Z-Targetting to lock onto the Skulltula Token.

Here comes the tricky part. Release the boomerang and do a backflip into the portal. As you are being warped out, the skull token will come to you. If it reaches you before you make it to the warp, you failed. This takes almost perfect timing. If you grab the token as you are being warped, the message will appear but it won't finish. If you recieve the token before you reach the portal, then you must restart your game because the skulltula is gone. You can re-enter the hole as many times as you like and get as many skulltulas as you want.
